Brent Hill - Sunday, Oct 26, 2008
Brent Hill is fairly prominent and visible from some distance, especially as you approach along the A38. Easiest parking is at Thynacombe Barn, although when I visited, this area had been occupied by some horrible pikeys. I managed to pull in a bit further down the road, but hopefully the pikeys will be moved on soon. Access to the hill, which has a trig point at the top is not easy. There are two footpaths, one from Lutton and one from south of Gingaford Cross, but as these were more like rivers than paths, I chose to cut across some fields instead. I won't be too specific, but there is a tiny overgrown gate in one corner of a field that gives access to the hill. Despite the difficulty, the view is spectacular.
